Michael D. Cesaro was admitted as a Partner of the Firm on July 1, 2005 and on July 1, 2015 became the firm’s Managing Partner. He joined the Governmental Services Department of the Firm in 1989 and from July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2015 served as Chairman of the department. His areas of expertise are the audits of county and municipal governments, school districts, non-profit organizations and federal and state financial assistance programs. He is licensed to practice as a Certified Public Accountant, Registered Municipal Accountant and as a Public School Accountant in New Jersey. He has also been certified by the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs, Division of Local Government Services as a Certified Municipal Finance Officer. Mr. Cesaro graduated Summa Cum Laude from Glassboro State College (Rowan University) where he earned a B.S. in Business Administration.
Mr. Cesaro has extensive governmental accounting and auditing experience. He has performed accounting, auditing and budgeting services for numerous municipalities, counties, school districts and non-profit organizations most subject to the requirements of the Single Audit Law. He also serves as a frequent discussion leader and speaker for various continuing professional education courses in the areas of municipal accounting, auditing and budgeting.
Mr. Cesaro is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants, where he currently serves as a member of the Governmental Accounting and Auditing Interest Group. He previously served a two year term as Leader of the Interest Group and as a nine year member of the Professional Conduct Committee. Mr. Cesaro is also a member of the New Jersey Registered Municipal Accountant's Association, where he currently serves as Trustee and Immediate Past-President. Previously, Mr. Cesaro had served the Association as President, Vice-President and Treasurer. Mr. Cesaro is also an associate member of the Tax Collectors and Treasurers Association of New Jersey.
In the community, Mr. Cesaro spends time as a Board Member of the American Red Cross of Southern New Jersey serving Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem Counties after having previously served the organization in various leadership roles. Mr. Cesaro is as an Executive Board Member of the Gloucester County NAACP, where he serves to further the mission of ensuring the political, educational, social and economic equality for all persons. As a Member of the 200 Club of Burlington County, Mr. Cesaro aids in the organization’s mission to provide financial assistance to the families of fallen or injured members of the State, County and Municipal Police as well as Fire and Emergency Medical Service responders serving the citizens of Burlington County. He actively coordinates and facilitates charitable efforts to assist the underprivileged of Camden City and has served as a member of the Advisory Council for the Food Bank of South Jersey. Through his past service with the Emmanuel Cancer Foundation, he assisted in promoting childhood cancer awareness. Mr. Cesaro is a resident of East Greenwich Township, Gloucester County.
