For many years, the NJ Society of CPA’s (NJCPA) has honored the memory of former Bowman partner Lisa Donahue with a scholarship in her name. Lisa lost her battle with cancer fourteen years ago, but her dedication to her profession and the impact she had in the industry is remembered to this day thanks to the NJCPA and the sponsors of the NJCPA scholarship fund.

The Lisa A. Donahue scholarship is awarded annually to a promising accounting student through a rigorous application process. The award factors in academic performance, essay submissions, and an in-person interview. The winner of the 2022 scholarship has been announced as Melissa Palladino. Ms. Palladino is a student at Rider University.

Once again, Bowman is proud to be involved as a sponsor; we wish to recognize and support young talent in the world of accounting while simultaneously honoring those who have achieved in the past. Our contributions to this annual award total an excess of $60,000 since its inception. Multiple leaders at Bowman also contribute their efforts in the selection process of NJCPA scholarships by reading and grading essay submissions. Senior Managers Maryann Holloway (CPA, RMA, PSA) & Amy Perrone (CPA, RMA, PSA) as well as partner Carol McAllister (CPA, RMA) are all involved in the college essay reviews, while partner Stefanie DeSantis (CPA, RMA, PSA, CGMA) reviews high school essay submissions.

At Bowman & Company LLP, we believe strongly in the value of giving back to the community that has treated us so well over the last 82 years.  We are proud to support NJCPA and the Southern New Jersey community, and we look forward to seeing more of our friends and neighbors at future events!
