With the election only days away, the president has not yet seen the executive order on cyber security. The draft has been circuiting for some time now, but with all attention on the election, the president hasn’t had the opportunity to review it. Although those involved agree something needs to be done about cyber security, they are having trouble reaching an agreement and confirming details.
Before it gets presented to the president, the Department of Homeland Security is hoping to get feedback from private sector employees and other stakeholders. There is also still hope that Congress will step in and eliminate the need for an executive order. Congress has the ability to create a more comprehensive legislation and amend existing laws that would be able to go further than any executive order.
