The National League of Cities supports the adoption of the Marketplace Fairness Act, which will help main street businesses more equally compete with their online counterparts. Local governments will also gain back control over their own resources under this legislation.
According to Marie Lopez Rogers, president of the NLC, the Act will allow cities to collect all taxes owed and provide an efficient way for shoppers to pay their sales tax. It is one of the top priorities this year for the NLC and they will continue to push it through Congress.
