Six Ways to Try Before You Buy

by | Sep 21, 2012 | Uncategorized

Over the years, everyone has made purchases they regret. Perhaps it was a washing machine that made way too much noise or a DVD that didn’t live up to your expectations. Today, there are more ways than ever to try an item before you buy it. Doing so can save you a lot of time and money. Here are several ways you can test an item before you commit to buying it:

Rent it. You’d be surprised how many things you can rent. Renting allows you to test the product before you make the purchase yourself.

Borrow it. If someone has something you’re considering buying, ask them to borrow it for a few days before you invest in one of you own.

Free samples. Try a free sample or trial size of a product before you buy a real, full-size one.

Try it on. Even if you’re sure it will fit, try it on before you buy. If you’re searching for something to match with an outfit, bring it to the store and try it on all together so you don’t waste your money.

Plug it in/turn it on. You might think all refrigerators are the same, but sometimes certain ones make more noise or run differently than others. Ask the salesperson to plug it in before you buy it to make sure it’s not too loud for your liking.

Take advantage of a trial offer. If you’re offered a trial offer, why not take advantage of it? Sometimes you can do this with more expensive items before you commit to the purchase.
