On April 24, 2025, the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJCPA) hosted their annual scholarship award ceremony. In total, 40 students were provided scholarships. Firms that are associated with the NJCPA are given the opportunity to contribute to the state-wide scholarship fund; for 2025, a total of $190,000 was raised. Bowman & Company LLP has continued our tradition of funding two scholarships: one in memoriam of deceased Partner John F. “Jack” Dailey, and one in memoriam of deceased Partner Lisa A. Donahue. Additionally, as Jack was a past president of the NJCPA, the society provides their own scholarship in his honor.
The winner of the Lisa A. Donahue scholarship is Kathryn Meehan, a Junior at Rowan University. Kathryn is an honors student, athlete, and aspiring CPA. In a LinkedIn post, Kathryn writes, “Receiving this scholarship is both an honor and a motivation. It reinforces my passion for the accounting profession and reminds me that hard work and dedication pay off. I’m incredibly thankful to the NJCPA and Bowman & Company for their support of future CPAs like myself.” Additionally, Stella Beliaeva of Stockton University was awarded the third annual John F. Dailey scholarship. Both Lisa Donahue and Jack Dailey were Partners of Bowman & Company LLP’s Governmental Services Department.
Scholarships established under this program of the NJCPA are awarded based on academic records, in-person interviews, and essay submissions. Bowman & Company LLP Partners Carol McAllister, Michael Thilker, and Stefanie DeSantis are involved in the candidate review process in addition to Senior Managers Maryann Holloway, Amy Perrone, Nicole Land and Sarah Greiner (née Donahue). In addition to the efforts by the individuals listed here, Bowman is even further involved in youth-oriented programs such as mentorship programs, the emerging leaders council, and high school presentations.
