Bowman & Company LLP mourns the loss of retired Partner Jack Dailey, who passed on June 23rd, 2022. Mr. Dailey was an outstanding accountant, and he touched the lives of many Bowman staff on a personal level. We offer our most sincere condolences to Mr. Dailey's family as well as anyone else who is affected by his passing. This blog will highlight some of his professional accomplishments, as well as the personal attributes that made him a unique & wonderful person.

Today is Monday, June 20th, 2022. On this day, America will observe Juneteenth as a federally recognized holiday for the second year in our nation's history. But for millions of Americans, this holiday has been an integral part of celebrating freedom and independence long before it was federally acknowledged. This commemorative holiday is a reminder that not only did our ancestors fight foreign powers to earn our freedom; we had to fight ourselves. And in quite possibly the greatest understatement in our nation's history, it was NOT without sacrifice, violence, and resistance.

Bowman understands the importance of making a local impact; we serve hardworking business owners, local governments, and individuals in our community every day. We know that the services we provide impact thousands of lives, even those who might not even know who we are. Bowman & Company LLP Senior Manager Michael Thilker traveled with SJ Honor Flight to Washington D.C. on April 21st. The SJ Honor Flight network is a non-profit organization for veteran support. Mr. Thilker - pictured here with Vietnam veteran Preston Sharp - has been involved in SJ Honor Flight for over seven years.

In the United States, May is recognized as Asian American & Pacific Islander (AAPI) History Month. The goal of this month long celebration of heritage is to acknowledge the contributions of Asian & Pacific Islander Americans to the culture and achievements of this country.

Bowman & Company LLP Partner Harry Wills - current president of the NJCPA - recently attended and spoke at the 62nd Annual Scholarship Awards Program. This program finances a variety of scholarships through the NJCPA Scholarship Fund, including the Bowman-funded Lisa A. Donahue scholarship (read this Bowman blog to learn more about the 2022 Lisa A. Donahue scholarship recipient).  Also included in this program is the John F. Dailey, Jr. scholarship, which was awarded to Justin Barnhard of Farleigh Dickinson University. The NJCPA Scholarship Fund has impacted the lives of numerous young aspiring accountants.
